Interesting news are coming out of Portugal where A Bola are reporting on story that has caught a lot of attention in that country. Benfica winger Andrija Zivkovic decided to stay at the club despite knowing that there will be almost no chance of him play for them again, as the Eagles were quite desperate to get rid of the player on huge wages.

Benfica have been trying for a while to sell Zivkovic, who has a contract with them until June 2021, but whose wages are progressively growing with every season and those hefty wages are hurting the club. The Serbian winger has played just 60 minutes of football this season and reports from Portugal are suggesting that not only did Zivkovic reject an offer from Olympiacos, but he also had a big offer from Benfica itself.

Benfica were apparently ready to let the player leave the club without a transfer and even to pay him 50 per cent of what he was supposed to earn in the next 18 months, or a fee close to 3.5 million euros. But it looks like Zivkovic rejected that offer as well…
