Bitesize Prediction: Aston Villa vs Fulham – 12/11/23

Competition: Premier League

Market: Aston Villa win

Odds: 4/7 @ Pribet

Looking to make an immediate return to Premier League winning ways on Sunday afternoon, Aston Villa will welcome Fulham to the Midlands.

Starting with the hosts, while Aston Villa might have been disappointed last weekend as they eventually fell to a 2-0 loss at the hands of Nottingham Forest, Unai Emery’s men should still find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Continuing to gain a string of plaudits since they appointed the former Arsenal boss last year, many around the Midlands are now dreaming of the chance to mount a genuine top-four charge. Sat firmly in pole position to punch their Europa Conference League ticket thanks to a 2-1 win against AZ Alkmaar earlier in the week, Villa will be confident of laying down another marker here. A huge part of Emery’s success this season has come thanks to his side’s remarkable success on home soil. In fact, Sunday’s hosts have not suffered a single Premier League defeat at Villa Park since way back on February 18th. Riding what has been an extended wave of momentum, the Villains are rightfully tipped as a standout contender this weekend.

As for the visitors, suffering last-gasp heartbreak at home against Manchester United last weekend as they eventually slumped to a 1-0 loss in west London, Fulham will be bracing themselves for another stern examination here. While Marco Silva’s side might have gained plenty of plaudits last season as they secured a top-half finish on their Premier League return, the ex-Everton boss is desperate for his squad to find some much-welcomed stability. Mustering just a single win from any of their previous six showdowns against top-flight opposition, Fulham should also be worried by a downbeat record against Sunday’s hosts. Including a 1-0 defeat when they last travelled to the Midlands back on April 25th, the Cottagers have lost four of their previous five contests against Aston Villa. Likewise, without a win from any of their last five Premier League contests outside of west London, we are expecting a home victory here.
