Bitesize Prediction: Barnsley vs Cardiff – 02/02/22

Competition: Championship

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves scrapping it out at the foot of the Championship table, Barnsley will welcome Cardiff to Oakwell on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Barnsley might have put in a largely rugged display over the weekend, it was more frustration for Barnsley at Oakwell. Eventually hit with a deserved defeat at the hands of promotion contenders Bournemouth, the Tykes appear to be freefalling their way back down to League One. Really failing to build off of their stunning play-off finish last season, the Yorkshire-based outfit now find themselves sat rock-bottom of the Championship table. With it looking like their thrilling 5-4 FA Cup win against Barrow on January 8th was just a minor boost, Barnsley have not picked up a single second-tier win since the start of November. Continuing to show a host of issues at the back and in need of what has quickly become a real miracle if they’re to extend on their Championship status, the Tykes could be in for a tough test here.

As for the visitors, while Cardiff might have found themselves in the midst of their own Championship nightmare this season, there is no doubt that they will be boosted by a much-needed victory over the weekend. Shocking almost everyone across the Championship as they landed a 2-1 win against high-flyers Nottingham Forest in south Wales, Steve Morison’s men also grabbed some vital breathing space over the drop zone. Extending their buffer over the bottom-three to six points and watching West Brom loanee Jordan Hugill find the net on his debut, Cardiff will be desperate to lay down another marker here. Looking to claim back-to-back Championship wins for the first time since November, we could be in for a fun affair at Oakwell on Wednesday night.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Barnsley vs Cardiff 4/11 for Wednesday’s Championship battle @ 888sport
