Competition: Brazil Serie A

Market: Botafogo win

Odds: 19/20 @ 1xBet

Two sides who have their sights firmly set on securing a top-four finish this season, Botafogo will welcome Bragantino to the Nilton Santos late on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, although Botafogo might have been frustrated last weekend as they eventually fell to a 2-1 loss away at Criciuma, Artur Jorge’s men have continued to impress since opening up the 2024 campaign. Suffering just a single defeat from any of their previous 10 appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to May 5th – the former Braga boss will certainly be excited to make a return to home soil here. Including a 1-0 victory against Fluminense earlier in the month, the Brazilian giants have been hit with just a single domestic defeat at the Nilton Santos since the middle of February. Booking a Copa Libertadores knockout stage ticket last month, Jorge’s side have their sights firmly set on clinching a top-four return this season. It should also be noted, Botafogo collected a 2-1 win when they last welcomed Wednesday’s guests to town back on March 7th.

As for the visitors, making a return to winning ways last weekend as they secured a hard-fought 2-1 win against Vitoria, Bragantino will be looking to use that performance as a platform to build on. However, despite sitting in the driving seat to punch another top-six finish this season, the Braga Boys are seeking some recent stability on their travels. In fact, Pedro Caixinha’s men have recorded just a pair of victories from any of their last 12 consecutive showdowns away from the Nabi Abi Chedid – a rut that stems all the way back to February 24th. Suffering that 2-1 loss when they traveled to Botafogo back on March 7th, they will be concerned by a nightmare record at the Nilton Santos. Including a routine 2-0 defeat last season, they have lost all of their six historic trips to Barrio by an aggregate score of 13-3. Facing what should be a stern examination late on Wednesday night, we are expecting a similar home win here.
