Bitesize Prediction: Brentford vs Watford – 10/12/21

Competition: Premier League

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 8/11 @ 888sport

In a battle between two of the summer’s Premier League returners, Brentford will welcome Watford to west London when this weekend’s Premier League fixtures get underway.

Starting with the hosts, suffering last-gasp heartbreak on their travels last weekend, there is no doubt that Brentford will be seeking an immediate bounce when they return to west London on Friday night. Eventually watching Leeds snatch a 98th-minute equalizer at Elland Road, the Premier League debutants have shown some recent inconsistencies. While Thomas Frank’s men might have gained a host of plaudits when opening the 2021/22 campaign, the Bees have now managed to win just one of their previous eight top-flight outings, a run that stems back to October 3rd. With attacking talisman Ivan Toney once again set to miss out here after returning a positive COVID-19 test, Brentford will now also be hoping to find some stability on home soil. Aside from a 1-0 win against Everton, that was the only Premier League home victory they have recorded since the opening weekend.

As for the visitors, while Watford might have put in a largely rugged second-half display last weekend, it was another afternoon to forget for the Hornets. Eventually hit with a 3-1 defeat against defending champions Manchester City on home soil, Claudio Ranieri’s side have largely failed to build off of that stunning 4-1 victory against Manchester United. Losing each of their last three Premier League contests, including a 4-2 defeat against Leicester on November 28th, the former Foxes boss knows that his side are firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap. However, after overcoming what has been an unenviable schedule since returning from the international break, Watford could be smelling a chance here. With each of their previous four top-flight matchups finishing with both teams finding the net, we’re backing a similar outcome.
