Bitesize Prediction: Burnley vs Norwich – 09/09/22

Competition: Championship

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 8/11 @ 888sport

Two sides who lost their Premier League status over the summer, Burnley will welcome Norwich to Turf Moor on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Burnley might have got a new era underway at Turf Moor this summer, it appears that the Clarets are enjoying life under Vincent Kompany. Although some around Lancashire might have been shocked to see the former Manchester City skipper arrive at the club back in June, they have lost just one of their opening eight Championship outings. Although Burnley might have been left heartbroken last weekend as they watched West Brom snatch a last-gasp 1-1 draw on the road, Kompany’s side have their sights firmly set on clinching an immediate Premier League return this year. Breezing past Wigan last month thanks to a 5-1 romp, it is worth keeping an eye out for a certain Jay Rodriguez here. The one-time Southampton striker has found the net in his last three Championship appearances on the spin.

As for the visitors, while Norwich might have marked their Championship return with a worrying start to the 2022/23 campaign, it appears that Dean Smith’s men have put those issues behind them. Last seen picking up a thumping 3-0 win at home against Coventry, the ex-Aston Villa boss finds his side tipped as a leading promotion contender this time around. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat just a single point adrift of finding a route to the top of the table, Norwich will be desperate to lay down another marker at Turf Moor. Although Smith’s side might have crashed out of the EFL Cup on August 23rd following a thrilling penalties defeat against Premier League outfit Bournemouth, Friday’s guests have still won five of their previous six matchups across all formats. In what could be an enjoyable affair, we’re backing both teams to find the net here.
