Competition: League One

Market: Wigan win

Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the League One table, Wigan will make the trip to a struggling Burton on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Burton might have managed to snatch a 0-0 stalemate against Plymouth over the weekend, it does not cover what has been an extended blip for the Brewers. Almost finding themselves sat in League One limbo, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men have managed to win just one of their previous nine matchups across all formats, a run that stems all the way back to the middle of February. With their recent issues highlighted by a 3-0 drumming against Morecambe earlier in the month, the former Chelsea striker has seen his side show a host of recent issues at both ends of the pitch. Failing to find their net in any of their last three outings on the spin, Tuesday’s hosts will know that they face a tough task at the Pirelli Stadium in midweek.

As for the visitors, while Burton might be in the midst of an extended struggle, Wigan will find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Last seen over the weekend storming their way to a 3-1 victory against Lincoln on the road, Leam Richardson’s men appear to be storming their way towards a Championship return this year. Holding a three-point buffer at the top of the table, the Latics should be smelling the chance to lay down a real marker on Tuesday night. Unbeaten in each of their last eight third-tier outings, a run that stems back to February 26th, the midweek guests will also be boosted by a rampant record against Burton. Including a 2-0 win when the two sides faced off back in October, Richardson’s side are unbeaten in their last six straight showdowns against Tuesday’s opponents.
