Bitesize Prediction: Cardiff vs Middlesbrough – 11/02/23

Competition: Championship

Market: Middlesbrough win

Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport

Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Championship table, Middlesbrough will make the trip to Cardiff on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Cardiff might have made the call to appoint former Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi last month, the 51-year-old will know that he faces a real uphill struggle in 2023. Although the Blues might have just about clung to their Championship status last season, they once again find themselves at the heart of a looming relegation scrap. Last seen putting in another toothless display as they slumped to a 1-0 loss away at Hull, the south Wales outfit have lost each of their previous four matchups across all formats. Along with crashing out of this year’s FA Cup following an action-packed 5-2 defeat at the hands of Leeds, Lamouchi’s new squad are in the midst of a 13-match winless run. With that nightmare run of form stemming all the way back to November 5th, the Bluebirds should face another tough test here.

As for the visitors, last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they cruised their way to a 3-0 romp at home against Blackpool, Michael Carrick’s side are enjoying a stellar purple patch. Continuing to shine since appointing the former Manchester United coach, fans around the Riverside are now dreaming of a shock Premier League return in 2023. Skyrocketing up the Championship table and now in pole position to claim a play-off spot, Boro will simply be looking to lay down another top-six marker on Saturday afternoon. Riding what has been a stellar wave of momentum since returning from the World Cup break, Carrick’s high-flying squad have won six of their previous seven Championship battles – a run that stems all the way back to December 17th. Two sides battling it out at opposite ends of the table, we’re backing an away victory here.
