Competition: National League
Market: FC Halifax win
Odds: 4/7 @ Pribet
Looking to extend their buffer in the play-off chase, Halifax will welcome AFC Fylde to Yorkshire on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Halifax might have suffered play-off heartbreak last season, the Shaymen haven’t shown any signs of a hangover this time around. Last seen over the weekend putting in another dominant display as they clinched a 2-0 victory at home against Ebbsfleet, Chris Millington’s men will be seeking a repeat performance here. Extending on their National League Cup adventure on January 28th as they claimed a 2-1 win against Sunderland’s U21s, the Yorkshire-based outfit have won each of their previous four appearances across all competitions by an aggregate score of 9-2. Laying down a play-off marker last month as they stormed their way to a 3-1 victory away at Gateshead, Halifax will certainly be smelling another golden opportunity here. Now unbeaten in all of their last eight consecutive outings, Tuesday’s hosts have also clinched back-to-back wins in front of their own supporters for the first time so far this season.
As for the visitors, while Halifax might be enjoying a real flurry, AFC Fylde find themselves at the heart of a public crisis. Last seen over the weekend falling to a 2-1 loss at home against Oldham, Kevin Phillips’ side are pencilled in as a leading relegation contender in 2025. Getting Tuesday’s showdown underway sat in the drop zone, the Lancashire-based outfit have now lost five of their previous six National League appearances. Getting the New Year underway with a 4-1 drumming away at Solihull Moors, the Coasters have continued to show some glaring defensive issues. Including another 4-1 defeat against Maidenhead last month, Phillips’ side have conceded at least a pair of goals in six of their previous seven National League showdowns. Two sides who find the moods in their respective camps at a polar opposites heading into Tuesday’s showdown in Yorkshire, we are expecting a home victory in midweek.
