Competition: Brazil Serie B

Market: Gremio win

Odds: 8/11 @ 888sport

Hoping to widen their buffer in the promotion places late on Tuesday night, Gremio will welcome Sport Recife to Porto Alegre.

Starting with the hosts, after slumping back to losing ways over the weekend thanks to a 2-0 defeat away at Novorizontino, Gremio will be desperate to prove that was just a minor blip. Although Renato Portaluppi’s men might have shown some signs of inconstancy over the past five weeks, they are firmly sat in pole position to clinch a Serie A return this season. Holding a five-point buffer from dropping out of the promotion places, the Porto Alegre-based outfit will be glad to make a return to home soil here. Last seen in front of their own supporters picking up an impressive 2-1 victory against fellow top-four contenders Vasco, Gremio should be looking to lay down another marker here. Likewise, it should also be noted, Portaluppi’s side have lost just one of their last 14 straight matchups at the Arena do Grêmio, a run that stems all the way back to April 15th.

As for the visitors, managing to make a much-needed return to winning ways over the weekend, Sport Recife also have their sights set on making a late charge for the top-four. Eventually picking up a 1-0 victory at home against Bahia, the Lions will be desperate to build off of that display on Tuesday night. However, knowing that they face a tough test when they make the trip to Porto Alegre in midweek, it should be noted that Claudinei Oliveira’s men have shown some extended issues on the road. In fact, on a run that is highlighted by back-to-back 4-1 drummings against Sampaio Correa and Ituano, the Leão have lost each of their previous five showdowns outside of Pernambuco. Likewise, failing to pick up a single away victory since way back on May 13th, we’re backing a home victory late on Tuesday night.

Bet: Gremio 8/11 to beat Sport Recife in Tuesday’s Brazil Serie B battle @ 888sport
