Bitesize Prediction: Leicester vs Southampton – 23/04/24

Competition: Championship

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 4/7 @ Pribet

In what is a heavyweight showdown at the top of the Championship table, Leicester will welcome Southampton to the King Power on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, managing to make a crucial return to winning ways over the weekend as they secured a 2-1 victory against West Brom, Leicester know the importance of using that gritty performance as a platform to build on. Finding a route back to the top of the Championship table and holding a two-point buffer over the chasing pack, the Foxes are simply looking to drag themselves over the finish line in what looks set to be a season-defining affair here. However, still dealing with some public issues behind the scenes at the King Power and with sanctions hanging over their head, Enzo Maresca’s men are seeking some much-needed defensive resolve. Crashing out of the FA Cup last month following an action-packed 4-2 defeat away at Premier League outfit Chelsea, Leicester have failed to muster a single clean sheet from any of their previous eight consecutive appearances across all competitions. On a similar note, Tuesday’s guests have failed to record a sole clean sheet from any of their last five matchups at the King Power – a run that stems back to February 13th.

As for the visitors, suffering what was a heartbreaking collapse away at Cardiff over the weekend, Southampton certainly watched their automatic promotion dreams go up in smoke. Eventually leaving South Wales with a 2-1 defeat, Russell Martin’s men will simply be hoping for an immediate response here. However, watching their three-match winning run come to an abrupt end on Saturday afternoon, the former MK Dons boss will have a continued headache over his side’s inconsistencies away from St. Mary’s. Opening April with an action-packed 3-2 defeat at the hands of fellow promotion rivals Ipswich, Southampton have won just one of their previous five showdowns on the road across all competitions. Likewise, despite a remarkable 4-3 victory against Birmingham on March 2nd, the Saints have shipped 11 goals in those five straight away fixtures. However it should be highlighted, with Tuesday’s opponents seeing five of their previous six meetings finish with both teams finding the net, we are expecting a similar outcome at the King Power in midweek.

Bet: Both teams to score at Leicester vs Southampton 4/7 for Tuesday’s Championship showdown @ Pribet
