Competition: A-League

Market: Melbourne Victory win

Odds: 7/10 @ Pribet

Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Saturday morning, Melbourne Victory will welcome Brisbane to AAMI Park.

Starting with the hosts, watching their recent flurry come to an abrupt end last week as they suffered a close-fought 1-0 loss against Wellington, Melbourne will certainly be seeking an immediate response here. Cruising their way to a play-off ticket this season and gaining plenty of plaudits from across the A-League, Tony Popovic’s men have made a string of improvements this time around. With the chance to potentially book a bronze medal finish this weekend, the Victory have lost just one of their previous five appearances. Opening April with a stunning 2-1 victory against bitter local rivals Melbourne City, Friday’s hosts will also be excited to make a return to AAMI Park here. Including another 2-1 win against Perth last month, Popovic’s side have collected nine points from their previous four A-League showdowns in front of their own supporters. Likewise, suffering just a pair of defeats on home soil over the past 12 months, Melbourne will be smelling a golden opportunity.

As for the visitors, making an immediate return to losing ways last week as they suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at home against Newcastle, Brisbane have continued on another A-League struggle this season. Once again battling it out in the bottom-half of the table, Ruben Zadkovich’s men should be bracing themselves for another stern examination on Saturday morning. Signing off March with a 1-0 loss at the hands of Wellington, the Lions have lost three of their previous four appearances. Likewise, along with mustering just a single victory from any of their previous six A-League appearances, Brisbane have also failed to secure consecutive wins since the end of November. Mustering just one win away from Lang Park since way back on December 10th, the Queensland-based outfit have also failed to muster a single clean sheet since opening the New Year. Two sides scrapping it out at opposite ends of the A-League table, we are predicting a home victory here.

Bet: Melbourne Victory 7/10 to beat Brisbane Roar in Saturday’s A-League matchup @ Pribet
