Bitesize Prediction: Norwich vs Preston – 09/12/23

Competition: Championship

Market: Norwich win

Odds: 19/20 @ BetUS

Hoping to break into the top-half of the Championship standings, Norwich will welcome Preston to Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Norwich might have continued to show some real inconsistencies since opening up the 2023/24 campaign, David Wagner’s side have claimed a recent boost. Last seen making an immediate return to winning ways as they suffered a 2-1 win away at Bristol City, the former Huddersfield boss has seen his squad win three of their previous four appearances. Heading into November’s international break landing an action-packed 3-2 victory against Cardiff, Wagner’s side will know the importance of making another Championship statement here. Facing an uphill battle in their bid to claim a play-off ticket this season, Norwich will also be excited by their most recent showdown against Saturday’s guests. Breezing their way to a stunning 4-0 romp when they last met Preston back on January 14th, Wagner will be calling on a repeat performance this weekend. Likewise, claiming a 1-0 win against QPR in their most recent battle at Carrow Road, Norwich should be smelling a potential opportunity.

As for the visitors, while Preston might have come flying out of the traps when opening up the 2023/24 campaign, the Lilywhites are enduring a recent wobble. Slipping out of the play-off places, Ryan Lowe’s men have now lost each of their previous three Championship appearances. Putting in a nightmare performance last weekend as they slumped to a shock 2-0 loss at home against relegation scrappers QPR, Saturday’s guests have shown some rather glaring defensive issues. Including a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Middlesbrough, Preston have shipped eight goals on their three-match losing run. Likewise, it should also be highlighted that Lowe’s downbeat squad have lost four of their previous five contests away from Deepdale – a run that stems all the way back to September 2nd. Hit with that 4-0 loss when they last met Norwich back in January, we are expecting a similar home victory at Carrow Road.
