Two MLS outfits who will be looking to extend on their US Open Cup adventure in the early hours of Thursday, Orlando will host Inter Miami at the Exploria Stadium.
Starting with the hosts, while Orlando might have been disappointed to have only played out a 2-2 draw away at Austin last weekend, the Purples are enjoying another eye-catching run. Once again battling it out at the top of the Eastern Conference, Head Coach Óscar Pareja has seen his side gain plenty of praise from across the MLS. Glad to turn their attention back to US Open Cup duties in midweek, the Lions have lost just a pair of matchups over the past seven weeks. Booking Thursday’s showdown thanks to a 2-1 victory against Philadelphia earlier in the month, Orlando should also be boosted by a hugely impressive record on home soil. In fact, on a run that is highlighted by another deserved 2-1 win against Charlotte on April 30th, Pareja’s squad have won four of their last five appearances at the Exploria Stadium.
As for the visitors, managing to pick up an impressive 2-0 win at home against New York Red Bulls last weekend, there is no doubt that Inter Miami will be desperate to build off of that result. However, while Phil Neville’s men might be in the midst of a four-match unbeaten run, the one-time Manchester United defender has seen his side struggle with their consistency. Still trying to find a route into the Final Series spots, the Herons have shown some recent issues on the road. Including back-to-back away day defeats against Charlotte and New England earlier in the month, Miami have also failed to bag a single strike in their last three matchups away from the DRV PNK Stadium. Likewise, managing to record just a single victory from their last five meetings against Thursday’s opponents, we’re backing a home win here.
