Competition: A-League

Market: Melbourne City win

Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport

Two sides who are really battling it out at opposite ends of the A-League table, Melbourne City will make the trip to Perth on Wednesday.

Starting with the hosts, while Perth might have been last seen over the weekend playing out a 1-1 draw against Western Sydney on home soil, it does not cover what has been a woeful campaign. Sat eight points adrift at the foot of the table and already lifting this season’s wooden spoon, interim boss Ruben Zadkovich will know that his side face another huge task here. Including a dreadful 6-0 drumming away at Western United on April 16th, the Glory have picked up just a single point from their last seven outings. Likewise, dealing with a string of issues at both ends of the pitch, it should be noted that Perth have remarkably failed to win any of their previous 10 straight outings at home, a run that stems all the way back to February 19th. Hit with a 3-1 loss the last time Melbourne came to town, Zadkovich’s temporary squad should be bracing themselves on Thursday.

As for the visitors, while Perth might be in the midst of an extended A-League nightmare, Melbourne sit in pole position to claim another domestic crown. Last seen a few days ago when cruising their way to a 3-0 romp against United City on AFC Champions League duties, Patrick Kisnorbo’s defending champions should be smelling a golden chance here. Suffering just a single defeat across all formats since way back on February 15th, City also have one attacking talisman who has continued to shine this season. Once again finding the net last time out, Australian international Jamie Maclaren has racked up 14 A-League strikes and currently leads the race for this year’s Golden Boot. Claiming that thumping 3-1 victory when they last faced off against Perth on the road, it is hard to see anything other than another successful showdown for Melbourne.

Bet: Melbourne City 4/11 to beat Perth Glory in Wednesday’s A-League battle @ 888sport
