Competition: Spanish Segunda

Market: Racing Santander win

Odds: 4/5 @ Pribet

Looking to extend on their recent purple patch, Racing Santander will welcome Alcorcon to the El Sardinero on Monday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Racing Santander might have found themselves in the midst of an extended wobble on either side of opening the New Year, Jose Lopez’s men have come roaring back in an eye-catching fashion. Last seen signing off March with an action-packed 3-2 victory away at Sporting Gijon, the Cantabria-based outfit will be smelling the chance to make another statement here. Skyrocketing their way into the play-off places and now dreaming of the chance to punch a La Liga return this season, the former Malaga boss has seen his squad suffer just a single defeat from any of their previous nine appearances – a run that stems back to January 29th. With their recent purple patch highlighted by a 4-2 victory against Tenerife last month, Racing Santander have gained a reputation for their clinical performances in the final third. Notching 14 goals in just their previous six Segunda showdowns, it should also be noted that Lopez’s men have won their last four consecutive home fixtures by an aggregate score of 10-4.

As for the visitors, although Alcorcon might have secured a Segunda return this season, the Potters have a real battle on their hands in the race to keep hold of their second-tier status. Missing out in what was billed as a major must-win showdown last week as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate against fellow relegation scrappers Amorebieta, Mehdi Nafti’s men have recorded just a single victory from any of their previous seven appearances. Facing what will certainly be a real challenge when they travel to Cantabria on Monday night, Alcorcon have continued to show some glaring issues on their travels. Last seen outside of the capital suffering a toothless 1-0 defeat against Sporting Gijon, the Madrid-based outfit have lost all of their previous four away fixtures by an aggregate score of 8-0. Two sides who find themselves scrapping it out at opposite ends of the Segunda table, we are backing a home victory here.

Bet: Racing Santander 4/5 to beat Alcorcon in Monday’s Segunda showdown @ Pribet
