Competition: Spanish Segunda

Market: Racing Santander win

Odds: 12/11 @ BetUS

Hoping to extend on their Segunda play-off charge on Sunday night, Racing Santander will welcome Eldense to Cantabria this weekend.

Starting with the hosts, although Racing Santander might have suffered a second-half collapse away at Real Oviedo last weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate, Jose Lopez’s men still have their sights set on securing a play-off finish this season. While the Cantabria-based outfit might have endured an extended wobble on either side of opening the New Year, Los Verdiblancos have lost just one of their previous seven Segunda appearances – a run that stems back to January 29th. Signing off February with an eye-catching 2-1 win against Leganes, Racing will also be excited by their recent purple patch on home soil. Last seen at El Sardinero clinching an action-packed 4-2 victory against Tenerife on March 10th, Sunday’s hosts have won all of their previous three home fixtures by an aggregate score of 8-3. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, the former Sporting Gijon boss has seen his squad collect 12 points from their last five Segunda showdowns in Cantabria.

As for the visitors, although Eldense might have only made their Segunda return this season, Fernando Estevez’s side have cruised their way to second-tier safety with plenty of time to spare. However, missing out on what they had billed as a potential opportunity last weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate against Cartagena, Deportivo have shown some recent inconsistencies. Facing what could be a tricky test here, Sunday’s guests have recorded just a pair of wins from any of their previous seven Segunda appearances – a run that stems back to January 28th. Almost sat in second-tier limbo, the former Burgos boss will have a continued headache over his side’s extended issues on the road. Last seen on their travels slumping to a routine 3-1 drumming at the hands of Mirandes on March 9th, Eldense have claimed just a sole victory from their previous eight showdowns outside of Valencia.
