In what is a real relegation six-pointer on Sunday night, Racing Santander will welcome Mirandes to Cantabria for what could prove to be a crucial meeting.
Starting with the hosts, while Racing Santander might have made their Segunda return over the summer, they are enduring what has been an extended rut. Putting in another downbeat performance earlier in the week as they eventually slumped to a 1-0 loss away at a rock-bottom Ibiza, there is a huge amount of pressure on Guillermo Fernández Romo’s shoulders. As for the visitors, while Mirandes might have been left heartbroken away at Leganes earlier in the week, Joseba Etxeberria’s men are enjoying a much-needed boost. Despite eventually having to settle for a 2-2 draw on the road, Los Rojillos have remarkably lost just one of their last nine straight matchups across all formats. Skyrocketing their way up the Segunda table and with the mood in their camp likely to be at a continued high, the one-time Tenerife boss has seen his side find a clinical edge in the final third. With their eye-catching run highlighted by an action-packed 4-2 victory at home against Albacete on December 3rd, Mirandes could be smelling the chance to lay down a real marker on Sunday night. It should also be highlighted, Etxeberria’s side have suffered just a single defeat outside of Burgos since the middle of October.
