Competition: Serie B

Market: Venezia win

Odds: 8/11 @ Pribet

Knowing that they can officially be crowned Serie B champions this weekend, Venezia will travel to Liguria on Friday afternoon when they meet Spezia.

Starting with the hosts, while Spezia might still mathematically be clinging to their Serie B status, the Little Eagles are already planning for life in Italy’s third-tier. Despite clinching a bronze medal finish last season, Luca D’Angelo’s side have broken a string of unwanted records this time around and they have rightfully come under a huge amount of scrutiny. Despite securing a shock 6-1 romp against Sudtirol on April 18th, the Whites came immediately crashing back down to earth last time out. Falling to an action-packed 4-2 loss against Catanzaro, the Liguria-based outfit sit rock-bottom of the Serie B standings and they are six points adrift of safety heading into the penultimate showdown here. Knowing that it would take an all-time miracle in the race to avoid an infamous second-tier relegation, Spezia have gained a reputation for their glaring defensive issues. In fact, D’Angelo’s side have shipped 56 goals in their 36 Serie B appearances this season and they have also mustered just a single clean sheet in front of their own supporters so far this calendar year.

As for the visitors, although Venezia might have lost their Serie A status last season, the Winged Lions are sat firmly in the driving seat to book an immediate top-flight return. Heading into Friday’s showdown sat at the top of the Serie B standings and holding a three-point buffer over the chasing pack, Giovanni Stroppa’s side are enjoying a major purple patch. Last seen putting in another professional display as they secured a 2-0 victory at home against Empoli, the Veneto-based outfit will certainly be smelling another golden opportunity this weekend. In fact, Friday’s guests are unbeaten in all of their previous 12 consecutive Serie B appearances – a run that stems all the way back to February 2nd. Likewise, the one-time Monza boss has seen his leading promotion contenders suffer just a single defeat since the start of November. Marking their return from March’s international break with a 3-1 victory against Juve Stabia, Venezia will be confident making another title statement this weekend.

Bet: Venezia 8/11 to beat Spezia in Friday’s Serie B battle @ Pribet
