Bitesize Prediction: Stoke vs Burnley – 30/12/22

Competition: Championship

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on what has been a remarkable purple patch, Burnley will make the trip to Stoke on Friday night in what could be an enjoyable affair.

Starting with the hosts, while Stoke might have been disappointed to have eventually played out a 2-2 draw away at Rotherham earlier in the week, Alex Neil’s men are enjoying a largely impressive run. Sat just three points adrift of breaking into the top-half. the one-time Norwich boss has seen his side lose just one of their last six contests across all formats – a run that stems back to a 2-1 loss against Birmingham on November 5th. Picking up an eye-catching 2-1 friendly win against Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest during the World Cup break, Stoke will now be hoping to find some much-needed stability on home soil. Last seen at the bert365 Stadium playing out another 2-2 stalemate against Cardiff, it should be highlighted that Neil’s men have mustered just a sole Championship victory from their last five attempts in Staffordshire.

As for the visitors, while Burnley might have seen their EFL Cup run come to an end earlier in the week, Vincent Kompany’s side have only continued on a remarkable Championship romp. Last seen a few days ago storming their way to a 3-0 romp at home against Birmingham, the former Manchester City skipper has seen his side gain a string of plaudits. Appearing to breeze their way to an immediate Premier League return and now holding a commanding 11-point buffer from dropping out of the top-two, the Clarets will be looking to lay down yet another marker on Friday night. Winning eight of their previous nine Championship outings, Kompany’s high-flying squad have also gained a reputation for their free-scoring antics. In fact, it should be noted, Burnley have now bagged at least a pair of goals in their previous seven matchups against second-tier opposition.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Stoke vs Burnley 4/11 for Friday’s Championship showdown @ 888sport
