Competition: EFL Cup

Market: Tottenham win

Odds: 6/5 @ 888sport

In what is a real London derby on Wednesday night, Tottenham will host West Ham with a spot in the semi-finals of this year’s EFL Cup up for grabs.

Starting with the hosts, while Tottenham might have managed to snatch a point against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, there is no doubt that Spurs would have felt they deserved to leave with more. Missing a host of golden chances on home soil, new boss Antonio Conte would have undoubtedly been excited by his side’s display in north London. With their sights firmly set on securing a Champions League return for next season, the Lilyhwites should find the mood in their camp at a recent high. Finding a real Premier League boost since bringing in the one-time Chelsea manager, Tottenham are unbeaten in each of their last five meetings against top-flight opposition. With England skipper Harry Kane ending his domestic drought after finding the net against Liverpool over the weekend, Conte’s men should be looking to lay down another marker here.

As for the visitors, after watching Saturday’s meeting against Norwich get scrapped due to a coronavirus outbreak in the Canaries’ camp, West Ham likely should have enjoyed a brief break. While the Hammers might have gained plenty of plaudits over the past 18 months, David Moyes’ men are enduring a recent wobble. Last seen getting hit with a deserved 2-0 defeat at the hands of London rivals Arsenal on December 15th, the former Manchester United boss has seen his side win just one of their last six Premier League matchups. Losing their place in the top-four, West Ham have also shown some extended issues on the road. Collecting just a single point from any of their last four top-flight contests outside of east London, Wednesday’s guests will know that they face another stern test here.

Bet: Tottenham 6/5 to beat West Ham in Wednesday’s EFL Cup showdown @ 888sport
