Bitesize Prediction: West Ham vs Sevilla – 17/03/22

Competition: Europa League

Market: West Ham win

Odds: 5/4 @ 888sport

With it all still to play for on Thursday night, West Ham will welcome Spanish outfit Sevilla to the London Stadium for their Europa League second-leg meeting.

Starting with the hosts, managing to make a much-welcomed return to winning ways over the weekend, there is no doubt that West Ham will be desperate to keep up that momentum here. Eventually falling to a 1-0 loss out in Spain last week in their first-leg meeting, David Moyes’ men impressed with their 2-1 victory against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon. Desperate to welcome back attacking talisman and leading goalscorer Jarrod Bowen in midweek, the former Manchester United boss should be boosted by his side’s recent success on home soil. Including that 2-1 win against Villa a few days ago, it should be noted that the Hammers are unbeaten in each of their last four matchups across all formats in east London, a run that also saw them land a 1-0 victory against fellow top-six contenders Wolves on February 27th.

As for the visitors, while Sevilla might find themselves sat in pole position to extend on their Europa League adventure here, Julen Lopetegui’s side are coming off the back of a flat display over the weekend. Eventually having to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Rayo Vallecano, the former Real Madrid boss has seen his side gain somewhat of a reputation for their struggles on the road. While the Whites might still be battling it out at the top of Spain’s top-flight, it should be highlighted that Los Nervionenses have remarkably failed to win any of their previous seven straight contests away from the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. Dropping points against the likes of Alaves, Espanyol and Dinamo Zagreb on their worrying away day rut, Sevilla could face another tough test in east London on Thursday night.
