Competition: League One

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 4/5 @ BetUS

In what could prove to be a fiery derby showdown on Tuesday night, Wigan will welcome Bolton to the DW Stadium.

Starting with the hosts, while Wigan might have mounted a second-half comeback at home against Cheltenham over the weekend as they eventually snatched a 1-1 stalemate, the Latics have continued to struggle with their consistency this season. Almost sat in League One limbo and still dealing with some public issues behind the scenes at the DW Stadium, Shaun Maloney’s men have recorded just a pair of wins from any of their previous six third-tier showdowns. Signing off January with a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Stevenage, the former Hibernian boss will have a mounting headache over his side’s recess defensive struggles. Including an action-packed 4-2 loss away at Oxford earlier in the month, Wigan have recorded just a single clean sheet from any of their last seven appearances. Likewise, suffering a 2-1 defeat against Exeter on February 10th, Maloney’s squad have collected just a sole point from any of their previous three League One contests at the DW Stadium.

As for the visitors, putting in what was a downbeat display over the weekend and they slumped to a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Blackpool, there is no doubt that Bolton will be seeking an immediate response here. Still battling it out at the top of the League One standings and with their sights firmly set on securing a Championship return in 2024, Ian Evatt’s men are unbeaten in all of their other seven third-tier appearances. However, missing out on what they billed as a golden opportunity earlier in the month as they had to settle for a thrilling 3-3 draw against relegation scrappers Charlton, the Trotters have continued to show their own respective issues at the back. In fact, Bolton have failed to muster a single clean sheet from any of their last seven League One outings on the spin. In what could prove to be a fiery derby contest on Tuesday night, we are expecting chances to fall at both ends of the DW pitch.

Bet: Both teams to score at Wigan vs Bolton 4/5 for Tuesday’s League One showdown @ BetUS
