Almost on the heels of the announcement that the players from Spanish Premier Division strugglers UD Levante will go on strike if their outstanding salaries are not paid, mid division Portuguese Premier League side Boavista have given a warning that if their demands are not met they will not be turning out against Nacional Madeira on Sunday.

The dispute arose out of the fact that the club have not paid the playersÂ’ salaries for two months.

A report in a Portuguese tabloid quotes the Boavista director Alvara Braga Junior as having said that he hoped that the dispute will be resolved by lunch time Sunday so that the game can go ahead and the strike is avoided so as to prevent the day from becoming a sad one in the history of the club.

The players are demanding their February and March salaries plus 60% of their December one.
