Competition: National League

Market: Boreham Wood win

Odds: 7/5 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on what has been a stunning run of form, a high-flying Boreham Wood will make the trip to Altrincham on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Altrincham might have salvaged an FA Cup replay against Gateshead last time out, the Robins are in the midst of what has been a worrying run of form. Despite enjoying what was their own impressive resurge last month, the Manchester-based outfit have found themselves come tumbling down the National League table. Last seen on fifth-tier duties getting hit with an action-packed 3-2 defeat at the hands of Woking, Altrincham have lost each of their last three contests on the spin. In fact, landing just a single point from any of their last four National League outings, it should be noted that Saturday’s hosts have shown some extended issues at the back. Including back-to-back 2-1 loss against Eastleigh and Solihull Moors last month, the Robins have conceded at least a pair of goals in their last five fixtures across all formats.

As for the visitors, while Altrincham might be in the midst of an extended struggle, the same cannot be said for a high-flying Boreham Wood. Despite having to settle for a bottom-half finish last season, the Whites have only continued to shock many across the National League this time around. Last seen extending on their FA Cup adventure thanks to a 2-0 win against Eastleigh on home soil, the Hertfordshire-based outfit open this weekend’s fixtures holding a one-point buffer at the top of the table. Last seen on fifth-tier duties landing a deserved 1-0 victory against a struggling Southend, Luke Garrard’s men have won six of their last seven matchups, a run that stems back to the start of October. Managing to pick up a 1-0 win against King’s Lynn Town in their last contest on the road, we’re backing an away win here.
