Two sides who find themselves almost stuck in limbo in Spain’s top-tier, Alaves will welcome Eibar to Estadio de Mendizorroza on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, shocking many across Spain by snatching a 1-1 draw off of Champions League hopefuls Sevilla last weekend, Alaves have begun to show some much-needed improvements, even if they’re struggling to pick up maximum points. Despiting winning just one of their last eight La Liga appearances, a run that stems back to the end of November, Asier Garitano’s men find themselves holding a six-point buffer from being dragged back into the drop zone. While Alaves may have their sights firmly set on extending their La Liga status this year, there is no doubt that fans around the Estadio de Mendizorroza will have growing concerns over their side’s continued issues on home soil. Alaves have failed to win any of their last four matchups in front of their own supporters, including a 2-1 defeat against Villereal last month.

As for the visitors, putting in another rugged display and snatching a 1-1 draw off of Real Bets last weekend, Eibar have found some much-needed momentum entering the New Year. Undoubtedly still boosted by what was a stunning 2-0 victory over Atletico Madrid last month, José Luis Mendilibar’s men have lost just one of their last six La Liga matchups, a run that also saw them pick up a thumping 3-0 win over Granada prior to the festive break. With it appearing that they have found a way to extend their La Liga status for another campaign, fans around the Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa will now be calling on their side to find some stability on the road. Eibar have failed to win any of their last four matches on the road, including a 4-1 hammering away at Real Sociedad.
