Both teams to score at Brentford vs West Brom 8/11 for Friday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Championship

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 8/11 @ Bet 365

In a battle between two of the Championship’s top-scorers this season, Brentford will welcome title challengers West Brom to an empty Griffin Park on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, marking their return from the enforced break with an eye-catching 2-0 win against West London rivals Fulham, Brentford are sat in pole position to at least secure a play-off finish this season. Entering the March interruption with what was a rampant 5-0 romp against Sheffield Wednesday, the mood in Thomas Frank’s camp should be at a real high. Led by leading marksman Ollie Watkins who has remained linked with a string of Premier League outfits, the Bees have continued to gain a long list of admirers for their performances in the capital. Including that season-best display against the Owls prior to the break, Brentford have lost just a sole second-tier contest at Griffin Park since November 2nd, an 11-match run. Knowing that three points on Friday could fire them into the top-two chase, Brentford could be confident of causing an upset this week.

As for the visitors, while their point against Birmingham last week may have helped West Brom leapfrog Leeds to top spot, the Baggies are in the midst of a testing patch. Along with crashing out of the FA Cup in what was a 3-2 defeat against Premier League outfit Newcastle, former West Ham boss Slaven Bilić also saw his side drop points against Wigan and Swansea prior to the beak. While they might have continued to show some rather glaring issues at the Hawthorns, Friday’s guests do hold a fearsome reputation for their displays outside of the Midlands. Including a 3-0 romp away at Bristol City prior to the break, West Brom have collected 39 points on the road this season, the best away record of any side in the Championship. With both sides holding the best-attacking tallies entering Friday’s promotion showdown, we’re backing a lively encounter in West London.
