Two sides signing off their A-League campaign on Friday morning, Macarthur will welcome Wellington Phoenix to Campbelltown Stadium.

Starting with the hosts, managing to make a return to winning ways with a deserved 2-1 victory away at Western United earlier in the week, Macarthur have gained plenty of plaudits in their maiden A-League campaign. Wrapping up a Final Series spot with time to spare, they also managed to prove that their 2-1 defeat against Central Coast Mariners last week was just a minor blip. With just a single defeat to their name in any of their last eight straight contests, a run that stems back to the middle of April, Head Coach Ante Milicic will now be desperate for his side to find some stability on home soil. Last seen at Campbelltown Stadium suffering that loss against The Mariners, Friday’s hosts have recorded just a single A-League win in their last five home fixtures on the spin. It should also be highlighted that Macarthur have landed just a trio of clean sheets in New South Wales all season.

As for the visitors, while Wellington might be enjoying a hugely impressive end to the 2021 season, it appears they have left it too late to snatch a dramatic top-six finish. Needing what is a minor miracle, the New Zealand-based outfit are unbeaten in each of their last 10 straight A-League matchups, a run that stems all the way back to April 4th. Collecting nine points from their last three appearances and with the mood in their camp really at a season-high, The Phoenix have also gained a recent reputation for their performances in the final third. Bagging themselves over 1.5 goals in each of their last four contests, including a thumping 3-0 win against Western United last month, don’t be surprised to see another lively affair on Friday. With the two sides playing out a 1-1 draw when they last faced off in New South Wales, we’re backing a similar outcome.
