Both teams to score at St. Johnstone vs Aberdeen 23/20 for Thursday’s Scottish Premiership showdown

Competition: Scottish Premiership

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 23/20 @ 888sport

Making their return to action after some off-field issues, Aberdeen will be looking to open their account for the new campaign when they travel to McDiarmid Park on Thursday night.

Starting with the hosts, putting in what was the most dramatic of late turnarounds over the weekend, there is no doubt that St. Johnstone will be desperate to build off of their victory at Rugby Park. Bagging a pair of strikes in the final five minutes and picking up their first win of the season, Callum Davidson’s men will also be glad to make a return to home soil in midweek. With all three of their opening contests coming on their travels, the Saints had previously gained a reputation for their performances in Perth before last year’s campaign was brought to an early finish. Along with picking up what was an eye-catching 2-2 draw against Rangers at McDiarmid Park back in February, Thursday’s hosts have lost just one of their last nine Premiership Contests on home soil, with that sole defeat coming against defending champions Celtic.

As for the visitors, having their last two Premiership contests postponed due to off-field issues, Aberdeen will simply be hoping to find their feet after their preparations took a real blow. Making just a single Premiership appearance since opening the new campaign and hit with a 1-0 defeat against Rangers on home soil, Head Coach Derek McInnes will take some solace from his side’s performances away from Pittodrie before last season was scrapped early. Including what turned out to be a dramatic 4-3 win away at Kilmarnock in the FA Cup back in February, the Dons are unbeaten in their last seven away contests across all formats. With three of the last four meetings between the two sides at McDiarmid Park seeing both teams find the net, we’re backing a similar outcome in midweek.
