Competition: Irish Premier Division

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 11/8 @ 888sport

Two sides who should find the mood in their camps at a real high, St Patrick’s Athletic will welcome Waterford to Richmond Park on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while St. Patrick’s might have been disappointed by that 3-1 loss against Shamrock when drawing a close to July, Alan Mathews’ side certainly bounced back in some style last weekend. Putting in what many thought was a shock display on the road at former Premier Divison Dundalk, The Saints picked up a stunning 4-1 romp, a result that really keeps them in the title chase. Now sat just three points adrift of top spot, they have now managed to collect 12 points from just their last five top-flight contests. Looking like they’re cruising towards another campaign of European football for next season, Mathews’ men should also be boosted by their rampant record on home soil. Including a 6-0 win on FAI Cup duties last month, Friday’s hosts have won each of their last five straight matchups at Richmond Park.

As for the visitors, while Waterford might have opened July firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap, The Blues have really breathed life back into their campaign. With the mood in their camp likely to be at a season-high, Marc Bircham’s men have climbed their way out of the drop zone and they’re now a prime contender to extend on their Premier Division status. Last seen picking up maximum points in a shock victory against Bohemians on home soil, Waterford are now in the midst of a remarkable five-match winning run, a run that stems back to July 2nd. Enjoying what has been by far their brightest spell in recent memory and also extending on their FAI Cup adventure last month, some in Waterford’s camp might fancy their chances of springing another major upset.
