In what could prove to be a lively encounter in midweek, Tranmere will welcome League Two outfit Salford to Prenton Park on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, playing out a dramatic 2-2 draw against Wycombe in the FA Cup over the weekend, Tranmere quickly have a growing reputation for their high-scoring encounters. Despite losing just one of their last six appearances, a run that stems back to the start of October, there is no doubt that Head Coach Micky Mellon will have a headache over his side’s issues at the back. With no side in League One shipping more than their 28 strikes against them this season, it should also be noted that Tuesday’s hosts have not recorded a single clean sheet at Prenton Park in any of their previous seven matchups on Merseyside.

As for the visitors, picking up an FA Cup replay against League One outfit Burton over the weekend, Graham Alexander’s men are starting to find their feet after a sluggish start to life in England’s fourth-tier. Arguably the most notable of sides in the Football League, Salford are enjoying a four-match unbeaten run and have their sights firmly set on mounting yet another play-off charge this season. There is no doubt that the former Scunthorpe boss will also be growing more impressed by his side’s form on the road. Landing back-to-back 2-1 wins on their travels, Tuesday’s matchup at Prenton Park could be yet another lively contest.
