Aston Villa defender is set to return to first-team action following an injury that left him sidelined for eight months.

The Dutchman dislocated his ankle in an Intertoto Cup match with Odense last July, and initially feared for his career to be over.

Whether Bouma is ready to appear in Villa’s next game, against Manchester United this weekend, remains uncertain. However, the player might return for the match with Everton a week later.

The Birmingham outfit have been struggling lately, and lost their fourth position to Arsenal.
