Legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is set to carry on playing as he prepares to sign a new contract extension with Juventus, according to a recent report from Tuttosport.

The 42-year-old has decided to go against his initial plans to retire, and instead, he’s going to be staying on for what will be his 19th season with the Italian champions. While there’s a great deal of uncertainty right now surrounding the future of football, courtesy of the coronavirus pandemic, Buffon will almost certainly be carrying on regardless of when the season gets underway again.

Buffon is one of those players that everyone remembers watching at one point or another, which just goes to show the kind of longevity he’s been able to have. Whether or not he can continue to live up to the expectations put in front of him is another matter altogether, but we’re excited to see him try.
