Cabaye keen on United move

Sky Sports understands Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has admitted he would be open to joining Manchester United, should the Champions come calling.

Despite missing almost two months of the season through injury, the French international was one of the few stand-out performers for Alan Pardew’s men during a difficult campaign which saw them secure Premier League safety in the penultimate game of the season.

Manchester United were originally linked with a move for the former Lille man last summer, though no formal offer was made.

Speaking to Canal +, the 27 year old said a move to Old Trafford “would be an interesting challenge”.

David Moyes is on the lookout for a new centre midfielder, following the retirement of Paul Scholes, with a number of targets already identified.

Free spending French Ligue 1 duo Monaco and Paris Saint Germain are also said to be interested, though Cabaye says he is unaware of any interest from his native country.
