Paulista pulled off a surprise 3-1 win over the second-placed Santos in the pick of Sunday’s Campeonato Paulista action.

After a goalless first half, Marcelo Macedo put Paulista in front with a penalty on 52 minutes.

And although Matheus was sent off for a second yellow card with just seven minutes left, Paulista were still able to add two more goals.

Defender Rodolfo Testoni doubled their lead on 85 minutes before Italian Cassiano Bodini put polish on the scoreline moments later.

Neymar produced a late consolation for Santos but it was too little to late as they missed a chance to move to the top of the league.

Other results saw Souza’s late equaliser give Palmeiras a 2-2 draw at Mogi Mirim while Penapolense and Atletico Sorocaba were also forced to the share the spoils in a 1-1 stalemate.
