Cardiff City 21/20 to beat Blackburn Rovers in Tuesday’s Championship contest

Competition: Championship

Market: Cardiff City win

Odds: 21/20 @ Bet 365

With a golden opportunity to extend their buffer in the play-off spots, a high-flying Cardiff will welcome Blackburn to South Wales on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, leaving it late and snatching a 1-0 win away at Bristol City over the weekend, Cardiff have really laid down a marker since returning from the break. With the mood in Neil Harris’ camp arguably at a season-high, the Bluebirds hold a three-point buffer in the top-six and now find themselves in the midst of a glittering six-match unbeaten run either side of the interruption. Now collecting 13 points out of a possible 15, there is no doubt that the former Millwall boss will be most impressed by his side’s continued showings at the back. Recording yet another clean sheet at Ashton Gate on Saturday, Cardiff have remarkably picked the ball out of their own net on just one occasion in over 500 minutes of action. Picking up back-to-back wins the last time Blackburn came to town, the Bluebirds will be looking to extend on their purple patch in midweek.

As for the visitors, while the mood around South Wales might be at a continued high following football’s return to action, the same cannot be said for a struggling Blackburn. Putting in another sluggish display over the weekend and hit with a 3-1 hammering at home against title-chasers Leeds on Saturday, Tony Mowbray’s men now find themselves in the midst of a three-match losing run and enduring their worst run of the season so far. With their dreadful patch highlighted by a 2-0 defeat away at relegation scrappers Barnsley when closing June, Blackburn have continued to show a string off issues away from Ewood Park. Losing each of their last three contests outside of Lancashire and failing to bag a single strike in any of those defeats, the Rovers should be in for another long night’s work in midweek.
