Catania’s in-demand Juan Vargas is set to join Fiorentina within the next few days according to website goal.com.

Speculation from Italy suggest that the wing-back is set to join the Viola for around 15 million Euros, or a possible co-ownership deal for Fiorentina striker Daniel Cacia could sweeten the deal.

If rumours prove true then the Florence based club will have beaten off strong competition for the Peruvian star with the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and Roma also said to be interested in the player.

Vargas dazzled fans and pundits alike with his immense dribbling skills and high standard of free-kick taking. Fans in Peru labeled the wing-back as the “Peruvian Roberto Carlos” and the sale of the star will come as a major loss to Serie A side Catania.

The deal is expected to be announced by Fiorentina officials by Monday with Catania already working on incoming transfers, possibly to replace the outgoing Vargas.
