Cavani wants Boca switch – Rojo

Edinson Cavani wants to leave Manchester United and join Boca Juniors this summer, according to his former teammate Marcos Rojo.

Rojo and the Uruguayan striker were together at Old Trafford for a short time, with Cavani arriving last summer and the Argentinian defender released at the end of the winter transfer window to sign for Boca in his homeland. However, speaking to ESPN Argentina, Rojo has revealed that the two of them maintain contact on a regular basis, with Cavani constantly inquiring whether everything is fine with Rojo at Boca.

It was recently reported that Boca are interested in securing the services of the 34-year-old, while United boss repeatedly suggests the Red Devils would be handing him an extension on the current one-season contract.

“It’s important that great players such as Cavani, who is a historic player for Uruguay and played in lots of important clubs, want to come and play for Boca,” Rojo said.

“I think that speaks very well for the club, and for Argentinian football.”

Rojo’s words follow similar ones from Cavani’s father from last month, who claimed the striker was unsettled in England and was looking to play closer to home.
