Charlotte FC v New York City FC: Westwood wants balance in bid to snap winless run

Charlotte FC midfielder Ashley Westwood believes the team must find the right balance between attack and defence to end their winless run.

Charlotte have failed to win any of their last four games since a victory over Toronto on May 31, losing three games and drawing one.

Despite their poor run of form, Charlotte have still managed to score six goals in their last four matches and have found the net in each of their last 11 MLS games.

Westwood insisted they are not overly worried about their recent results, but acknowledged they do need to rediscover their winning touch soon.

“Yeah, and that was the argument last year. We were not scoring many goals but we were tight at the back, now we have gone the other way. So it is about finding that balance,” said Westwood.

“It’s been a tough run. We have been away from home, it has not been easy. The MLS is known for being tough on the road and we have certainly found that out.

“But I think we have been in games. There have not been many teams that have outplayed us. They have been more our own doing, which stings but we can put right.

“We are not beating ourselves up, we know we have been in the majority of games. It has just been lacks of concentration that has cost us.”
