Chelsea join chase for Barcelona hotshot Ilaix Moriba

London-based Premier League giants Chelsea are said to have launched a formal offer in an attempt to sign Barcelona youngster Ilaix Moriba.

The talented midfielder has been heavily compared to Paul Pogba with Spanish media outlets claiming the likes of Manchester City and Juventus are both keeping close tabs on his development.

Moriba has been offered a new deal to remain at Barcelona but the Catalans are preparing for any eventuality and are aware the 16-year-old could very easily move to London.

Spanish Sport claims Chelsea representatives have already held a meeting with the player’s agent, adding that the overall atmosphere from that encounter was a highly positive one.

Having just turned 16 last week, Ilaix Moriba wants to take some time to deliberate and choose the best option for him.

Moriba was expected to announce his decision on Monday but with Barcelona making a significant effort to keep him and both Juventus and Manchester City in the running, the youngster will take his time to choose wisely.
