Chelsea pushed for Jesus deal

According to a recent report from his agent, Chelsea made a late bid to try and sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

The 25-year-old Brazilian enjoyed some good years at the Etihad but for whatever reason, it always felt like his contributions to the first team were overlooked and undervalued. Still, he knows what he’s worth, and the same can be said for Arsenal who stumped up some serious cash in an attempt to bring him to the Emirates.

They succeeded, but it’s worth noting that Chelsea put in an 11th-hour bid with the hope of pipping the Gunners to the post.

The Blues have already enjoyed a strong summer transfer window and probably didn’t need someone like Jesus in addition to what they’ve already got, but either way, that just shows how fiery this London rivalry continues to heat up – especially with the season’s kick-off being just a matter of weeks away.
