Chelsea ready to sell Schurrle and Salah to fund Varane bid

Jose Mourinho is ready to sell Andre Schurrle and Mohammed Salah to raise funds to bid for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, according to the Express.

The Chelsea manager is keen to agree a deal for the France international, who he worked with for two years before returning to Stamford Bridge.

Varane, who featured for his country at last summer’s World Cup finals playing in all five of France’s games, has started just five times in the league so far this season.

Neither Schurrle or Salah were in Chelsea’s squad for Saturday’s win over Newcastle United, and both will be allowed to leave if the club can recoup the combined fee they laid out for the pair – around £30m.

That victory last time out saw the Blues move two points clear at the top of the Premier League, and they can now be backed at a price of 2/5 to win the title.
