Chelsea to offer Rudiger new contract to fend off Spurs interest

Chelsea are set to start talks with Antonio Rudiger over a new contract, with Tottenham Hotspur interested in the services of the defender, according to Football Insider. Apparently, the North-London club are keeping a close eye on the situation, ready to pounce if they sense an opportunity.

The 28-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since his move from AS Roma for a reported fee of just over £30 million in 2017. He has had his ups and downs as different managers came and went, and while he wasn’t used much by Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel appears to value his qualities greatly. Rudiger’s regular place in the starting XI coincides with the appointment of the former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain boss.

The Germany international openly stated that he would like his future sorted before the end of the season, and it is believed that if Chelsea offer him suitable terms, he won’t be going anywhere.
