Chelsea unable to bring back Lukaku

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Chelsea do not have the option to recall Romelu Lukaku from his season-long loan from Everton, the Mail Online understands.

The Belgium international came off the bench to make his debut for the Toffee’s on Saturday afternoon, and scored an 85th winner for Roberto Martinez’s men, who are now the only team in the division to boast an unbeaten record after five games.

The arrival of Samuel Eto’o from Anzhi Makhachkala last month paved the way for Lukaku to once again leave the club on a temporary basis, having impressed with seventeen goals in a season-long spell with West Bromwich Albion last time around.

However, the four time African Player of the Year has failed to hit the net in any of his three appearances for the Blues so far, while fellow new arrival Andre Schurrle, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres have all also yet to get off the mark this season.

Lukaku, who was sixth in the Premier League goal-scorers chart last season, is a 40/1 shot to win the Golden Boot this season.
