Chelsea want Henderson

Chelsea are interested in signing Dean Henderson, currently at Sheffield United on loan from Chelsea, according to the Mirror.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper has impressed during his temporary spell with the Blades this season, and with the form of David De Gea rather patchy throughout the campaign, Henderson has been tipped to return to Old Trafford this summer and fight for the spot between the posts next season. Sergio Romero, who has been a worthy backup, isn’t being considered for the long-term role due to his age (33) and known issues with his knee.

However, Chelsea have goalkeeping issues of their own to solve. Manager Frank Lampard hasn’t been impressed with the world’s most expensive shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga and currently prefers 38-year-old Willy Caballero in goal. They apparently need a new long-term solution, and they’re currently considering Henderson. Valued at £25 million, he would arguably have more chance of nailing down a regular spot at Stamford Bridge.

Henderson’s contract with United expires in 2022.
