Competition: League Two
Market: Cheltenham win to nil
Odds: 21/10 @ 888sport
With the chance to briefly climb to the top of the League Two table in midweek, Cheltenham will host a struggling Grimsby on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, really enjoying what was a stellar purple patch before last year’s League Two campaign before it was brought to an early finish, Cheltenham appear to have just started off from where they finished in March. Putting in what was another impressive performance over the weekend, Michael Duff’s men landed a 2-0 win against Crawley in Gloucestershire and have gained plenty of plaudits for their purple patch in October. Continuing on their EFL Trophy adventure after landing back-to-back wins, Cheltenham find themselves in the midst of a four-match winning run and the mood in their camp is at a real high. Recording yet another clean sheet on Saturday, the Robins have gone over 400 minutes without picking the ball out of their own net across any competition and will be looking to make a similar statement in midweek.
As for the visitors, while Grimsby might have managed to collect their first point of the New Year as they hung onto a 0-0 stalemate away at Bolton over the weekend, it has been a worrying start for the Mariners. Already battling it out at the foot of the table and only their goal difference keeping them ahead of Oldham, Ian Holloway’s men have been tipped by many as an early-season contender to lose their Football League status this year. Already showing a string of issues as Salford hit them for four on home soil last week, the former QPR boss will have a real headache over his side’s continued issues in front of goal. Remarkably, Grimsby are the only side in League Two who are still waiting to open their account this season and they could be in for another overwhelming test as they travel to Gloucestershire on Tuesday.
