Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne has targeted a season of self-improvement and a top-half finish.
The 22-year-old, who returned to training this week after playing for England at the UEFA European Unde

r-21 Championship, is eager to develop his all-round game and make a telling contribution to what he hopes will be a successful campaign for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
Southampton finished 14th last term in their first season back in the Premier League since 2004-05, but Clyne would not be happy to settle for the same again.
“I want to improve as a player, and as a team I think we can all improve together because we can do better than last season,” the former Crystal Palace full-back told the club’s official website.
“Last season was a great season, but I think with the players that we’ve got, we can take the experience that we have into this season then we’ll be OK.
“For myself, I would like to get three goals and five assists, I’ll be happy with that. Hopefully as a team we’ll be aiming for a top-half finish.”
