Coady set for Blades switch

League One side Sheffield United have taken Liverpool’s Conor Coady on loan for six months, the Express understands.

The 20 year old, who can play in defence and midfield, has been with the Reds since 2005, eventually making his first and only league appearance so far in the 3-1 victory at Fulham in May.

His only other game at club level was the 1-0 defeat to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala in the group stages of the Europa League back in November.

He has represented England at every level from Under 16’s to Under 20’s, and was named captain for the recent Under 20’s World Cup in Turkey where he scored the opening goal in the 2-2 group stage draw with Iraq.

He is set to become David Weir’s sixth signing since becoming manager of the Blades, who finished fifth in League One last season – eventually losing to Yeovil Town in the play-offs.
