Turkey reached the Euro 2008 semi-finals here on Friday after beating Croatia 3-1 on penalties after the match had finished 1-1 after extra-time.

Semih Senturk levelled for Turkey in the first minute of time added on after Ivan Klasnic had given the Croats the lead in the 119th minute for his second goal in successive matches.

Croatia then missed two penalties and one saved – Turkish 'keeper Rustu Recber turning from villain to hero, after his error gifted the Croats their goal, saving from Mladen Petric to put the Turks through.

The Turks have made a speciality of being the comeback kings here having only led for two minutes of their four games which has seen them twice win matches in the last minute and then save themselves here right at the death.

However, they will have problems in even putting a team together for the semi-final with two key players suspended in Arda and Tuncay whilst captain Nihat Kahveci had to go off injured in extra-time and several were already missing through injury for this match.

Turkey meet Germany in the semi-finals in Basel, Switzerland, on Wednesday.
