Contract talks between Milan and Calhanoglu in progress

The contract currently binding Hakan Calhanoglu to AC Milan expires at the end of the season, and the attacking midfielder has been linked with several potential suitors, most notably Manchester United. However, recent reports claimed Milan were set to meet his representatives to discuss a new deal, and according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the negotiations have begun and are progressing with both sides aiming to reach an agreement.

The 27-year-old started his career with Karlsruhe in Germany, and he also played for Hamburger SV before joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2014. He arrived to San Siro three years later, for a fee reported to have stood at just under €25 million.

Since then, he’s gone on to represent the Rossoneri on 159 occasions in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and laying on 47 assists. Primarily acting as a classic No.10, Calhanoglu is comfortable on either attacking flank and can play deeper in midfield as well, if need be.
